Chemical Peels

What is a chemical peel?
A chemical peel is a resurfacing technique in which a chemical solution is applied to the skin to remove top layers. The skin that grows back following a chemical peel is smoother and more vibrant looking. Chemical peels are used to treat acne, wrinkles, hyperpigmentation and scars. Peels can be done at different depths based on your skin type and desired results.

Who can benefit from SkinMedica® Peels?

SkinMedica® Peels address the visible skin imperfections that result from skin aging and sun exposure, such as fine lines and wrinkles. Peels also address skin tone unevenness that can be caused by acne scarring or pigmentary changes. SkinMedica® offers a range of different strength chemical peels that licensed medical professionals can select to provide the optimum treatment for their clients.

How do I decide which particular peel is most beneficial for me?
During the initial consultation, your skin care professional will evaluate your skin condition and recommend the appropriate peel regimen based on your needs.

Illuminize Peel ®

Ideal Candidate: gentlest peel appropriate for first-time, chemical-peel clients, clients with mild skin imperfections or those looking for brighter, more radiant skin with no downtime. This is appropriate for all skin types. There is no expected downtime. Mild redness or discoloration may occur and can be covered with makeup. For maximum results, treatments can be received every 2 weeks until desired results are achieved. Results are cumulative and optimal benefits are seen with a series of three or more peels.

Vitalize Peel ®

Ideal Candidate: clients with mild-to-moderate skin imperfections that result from acne, skin aging and sun exposure, such as fine lines and wrinkles. This peel also addresses skin unevenness that can be caused by acne scarring or other pigmentary changes. This is appropriate for all skin types. Peeling can leave a yellowish tinge on the skin which is expected to last no longer than 2 -3 hours. Mild to moderate redness is expected after any type of chemical peel procedure, and varies from client to client. Skin sloughing lasts from 3-5 days. For maximum results, treatments can be repeated every 3 – 4 weeks. Multiple treatments may be required to achieve desired results.

Rejuvenize Peel ™

Ideal Candidate: clients who have previously received and tolerated the Vitalize Peel. This peel is for moderate to severe skin imperfections that result from skin aging and sun exposure, such as fine lines and wrinkles. This peel also addresses skin unevenness that can be caused by acne scarring or pigmentary changes.

Skin sloughing typically lasts for one week, but the degree of peeling may vary depending on the client’s skin condition and degree of  sun damage. For maximum results, treatments can be repeated every 4 – 6 weeks. Multiple treatments may be required to achieve desired results.
