Botox
What Is Botox®?
Botox® is an FDA approved purified protein naturally derived from the bacterium Clostridium Botulinum Type A. It has been used for over 20 years and is considered safe and effective. Botox® reduces the appearance of wrinkles by preventing the release of acetylcholine, a chemical that is produced in your skin and leads to the development of wrinkles. Lines and wrinkles develop, at least in part, from the action of facial muscles under the skin. Botox® is capable of preventing the unwanted facial expression lines and improves or blends the wrinkles that were visible while the muscles were at rest.

How Much Does Botox® Cost?
Botox® treatment costs vary and must be individualized to ensure that an appropriate treatment plan is developed to help you achieve your goals.

How is Botox® Performed?
The target areas are first marked with a marking pencil and cleaned with antiseptic. The Botox® is then injected into the muscles located in these areas, causing the muscles to relax. This results in a reduction in the appearance of these lines and wrinkles and smoother, more voluminous skin. The injections only take a few minutes to perform and is not painful for most patients. Immediately after the injection, the skin appears normal as there may be some redness and occasionally minor bruising. These reside with in a few days.

What is Recovery Like After Botox®?
Avoiding sunlight after receiving a Botox® treatment is recommended. This is to help with recovery and ensure that your results are long-lasting. After a treatment session, you can go home immediately and resume normal daily activities. Exercise should be avoided 24hrs after and one should remain upright for 4hrs post treatment to ensure the best results.

How Long Will My Botox® Results Last?
Botox® results can reduce the appearance of wrinkles by up to 80%. Everyone’s individual response to treatment is different, but you will notice results within a few days that will continue to improve over the course of a few weeks. The results of a Botox® treatment last from 3-6 months, as each individual responds differently.
